It is a very cool and nice place within the heart of the city. A quite and calm garden with cool shades. Sitting is not a good idea during the rainy season.

Located on the southern side of the Shakthan Palace is the Heritage Garden, set up recently to exhibit and preserve some of the indigenous varieties of plants and trees of Kerala.
Amazing place right in the heart of Thrissur town with a lot of historical significance. Entry is restricted as it is protected by the archaeology department. This beautiful garden has a pond in there as well
Serpent Grove or Sarpa Kavu is a snake shrine built for worship of serpent gods like Naga Raja (King of the snakes) and other snake deities, which is believed to bring prosperity to the royal family. Apart from the occasional prayers and ritualistic feeding of milk to the snakes to please the serpent gods, human interventions in these places are nil.
The snake deities worshiped in serpent grove in the place is Naga raja and Nagayakshi. They are located in the palace garden and can be found under a Saptarna tree.

The palace garden is just besides the Sakthan thamburan palace. It has gate inside the palace so one who visit the palace will get entry to here. You can use your camera there with additional permission. This place is where thamburan's and his official's buried officially. Their "smrithi mandapam" are kept here. The garden has complex walk ways where we can walk through each and every corners of the park which will direct us to the "Sarpa kavu", "Pond with fishes", "Another chira (temple pond) where separate kadavu from palace" are great. The place is maintained well. The trees are good enough to get shades even in mid day. A must visit place with family as it is kids friendly area.
