This is probably the most underrated arena in comparison to the most talked about and worshipped temple!! ( Padmanabhaswamy Temple)
It has the most exquisite carvings one can ever see. The walls and pillars of the mandapam scream out ancient story and tales and rituals. It had some pillars which produces different voice notes when tapped on(according to beliefs this technology was used to levitate heavy objects and for the construction of the temple), this mandap is believed to be constructed around 300 years before the construction of the actual garbhgrah.
You will need to buy a ticket to visit this arena which is a mere amount of 10₹ per head to see this architectural masterpiece. The counter is right there. People after entering the main temple from east gate(Main gate) usually go towards the South side/gate to que/line up for Darshan and that’s where one can find the counter and the mandap which mostly remains in disguise due to the lightning and enclosure around the mandap.
As photographs aren’t allowed inside the temple premises thus I am sharing some from the South gate.
