Kochuveli Beach

Veli is a calm beach you can visit while you are in Thiruvananthapuram. Situated near (2-3Km) national highway 66 and to Kochuveli Railway Station.
Pros: 1. Calm and Quite, not very busy in evenings.
2. Small shops are there, you can have tea, snacks, refreshment drinks.
3. Small rides are there for kids to have fun ride.
4. Horse ride facility is avialable (don't know how affordable the rates are )
5. A small lake is there, so boating and fishing are active.
6. A small village is on the banks of the lake. It is nice to visit.
Cons: 1. The beach is not at all clean; plastic wastes, thrown away snuggies, pads, beer bottles, and even dead remains of marine organisms (fish, tortoise etc.) make the beach worse place to visit.
2. Government might not be aware of the tourism possibilities of the place, and there for not taken measures to make the place more and attractive (no street light, no walkway, no parking ground etc)

Nice place to take young kids for an outing. Best to go after 4pm so that one can witness the sunset too. There is a toy train there too which the kids would love to take a ride on as well as boat rides. There are some game stalls too like archery and shooting.

The beach has easy access from the Veli tourist village. Very good beach with strong waves and beautiful view.
