The KCHR is a flagship institution for promotion of historical research and studies of Kerala. A lot of programmes, research works, publications are managed by them.
Historians and other community people usually comes in here for their research and allied works.

The place is very calm and good. There will exhibitions and art programs happening here more often. The compound consist of buildings with traditional Kerala architecture.

Government office for Kerala's historical research affairs. Provides grants for researchers. The office has Pattanam Archaeological Research division nearby and a vast library on the same.
