Directorate of Technical Education has to maintain and enhance the quality of technical education by laying the policies, establishing and developing Government Institutions, guiding and supervising the aided private institutions, interacting with industry and national level institutions, coordinating with other departments of State Government, Government of India, Statutory Organisations and to contribute to the development of industry, society at large. Directorate of Technical Educationis dealing with all the technical education activities in the state. Currently there are 12 Engineering Colleges (9 Govt. Colleges and 3 Govt. aided Colleges), 51 Polytechnic Colleges (45 Govt. Polytechnics and 6 Govt. aided Polytechnics), 3 Fine Arts Colleges, 39 Technical High Schools, 17 Commercial Institutes and 42 Tailoring and Garment Making Centres functioning all over the state, under the control of the Directorate. In addition to this there are around 150 self financing Engineering Colleges both in the Govt. and private sector functioning in the state.

directorate is situated near the pazhavangadi ganapathy temple.
it is beside the road.
parking can be done inside the office.
poly technic students can approach here for their needs and queries.
generally the office time is from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
sunday is holiday.

This the Administrative Head office of the Technical Education Department. The office is near Kizhakke Kotta Bus Terminal. Near Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple. This office conducts all the activities related to staff both teaching and non teaching of the department, like trasfer, promotion, new appointments retirements etc.
