Arjuna Backwaters

Boating is the main attraction in Poovar. We went with Arjuna backwaters and they offered us ride of one and half hours for pretty decent price as we are localites here from Trivandrum. Initially they told us ride would be for full one and half hours excluding lunch time at floating boat restaurant.

Guide (same guy who was riding boat) went in slow pace showing birds, explaining everything (about locality) very well and also stopped at few places to click pics of birds, mangrove forest etc. Coincidentally Sunny Leone was shooting at Golden Sand Beach. Definitely Backwaters was one of its kind with mangrove forests in between, really beautiful views which are different from that of Alleppey backwaters. We can't really compare both of them as both of them provide different kind of views and experience.

After nearly 40 mins, we went for lunch at floating boat restaurant. Non veg food like fish platter even though super fresh and really tasty (never had that much fresh and tasty fish anywhere outside before) are damn expensive, so better to enquire the rate (which are seasonal) and order else it will burn your pockets deeply. Other food like Biryani, Chinese are of nominal rates not that costly like sea food. They get fish from Tamil nadu sea (which is bit close to Poovar) and its not from Poovar or Vizhinjam beaches.

We were supposed to spend close to 30 mins at Golden Sand Beach which is accessible for public only via boats while taking this package. There is no other way to reach there, so we really wanted to spend at least around 20 mins for sure if not 30 mins. But guide got call from office and he was asked to return ASAP for next ride.

Guide informed us the same and we also agreed that time in hurry without cross checking the time spent. Guide rushed us through Golden Sand beach and he gave exactly around 5-10 mins and we got back in boat. Beach was really superb one with lots of good quality coral shells, view was great, but we weren't given enough time there.

After getting down, we were bit disappointed about the same and we told their staffs that our trip was cut short as whole trip time was excluding food (which anyway we didn't take more than 30 mins). When we raised this point, office staff didn't have any proper reply.

Everything was good if not for making us leave the beach in very very short time. Guys, so keep a watch on your time and just don't agree to the guide when they rush you at spot.

Note - Poovar is really a great place to visit, 3 star rating is for Arjuna Backwaters.

very expensive as compare to things which they provide.. approx 3000 for 45 mins

Was nice. Golden sand beach was good. But while returning was a bit boring .
