The traditional Kaikulangara Devi Temple is a historical Bagvath centre. The big Banyan tree and large lake similar to an old Chira is special here. This Bagvathi Temple that is in the centre of a rice field is a peacefull place because of the blessings of Kurumba Devi and Durga Devi. Renovation work is gone on by the liberal help of common people.
Myths
A temple had here 2000 years ago. Uma mahashwara power in Swayamboo concept was here. The Chira which is close to temple is considered very important place. This place which has many yagayannjas also has many Brahmins. There after the compitation between 'Kshethresharas', careless and natural disasters destroyed the temple. After Centuries Brahmins started living here and start agriculture. Other communities come here to help those who have started agriculture here.
History
After centuries approximately the place in the north of todays temple was the gift of 'Vadakkedath Illam'. For the people who has started agriculture, the 'Kurumba Devi' was praised in this place which was known as 'Shri Kurumba devaswom'. The thalappoli function of mannan community was happened in this place. Even now this place is known as 'Thalappolikandam'. This devi in approximately 16 houses is considered as 'Dharma Dhaivam'. This devi power was brought to 'Akathekunnath Mana' which is in the south and started the prayer due to the conflit between 'Samantha groups'. There after the decrease in the prayer leads to the angry of devi and shiva. So it leads to difficulties to the natives and decrease in the prayer. Due to harmfull disease, sudden death and poverty, approximately before 25 years even renovation was taken, the dedication of actual 'Devi Sangalpam' is not happened. Actions were stoped also after that 'Namojapam' was started in the temple by the leadership of children here in the navarathri season of 2009. The members of 'Namajapa Samithi' is increased to 100-150 members now. There after the renovation committee is formed under the leadership of rulers of place and started the renovation processes.
