Parrikar – yukt, black – coloured idol of Bhagwan Dokadiya Parshvanath in the Padmasana
posture. The idol is beside the idol of Shri Chandraprabhu Swami. There is an umbrella of 9
fascinating hoods over the head of the idol.
Tirth: It is in Prabhas Patan town close to the sea – shore.
Historicity: This is a very ancient and famous town. In medieval times, this town was known as
Devpatan, Somnathpatan and Chandraprabhas Patan. It is said that this city was established by
Bharat Chakravarthy and this temple was built when he learnt that a Samosaran of the future 8th
Tirthankara Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan will be set up here. In the 13th century, Shri Kumarpal
Maharaja built the temple of Ashtapadji here. When Vallabhipur was destroyed in V.S.845, the idol
of Bhagwan Chandraprabhu Swami was brought from Vallabhipur and installed here. There were
many temples here which were destroyed during the Muslim invasion. Many temples were
converted into Mosques. The idol of Dokadiya Parshvanath, which is very impressive and
miraculous, is beside the idol of Chandraprabhu Swami. There is a story behind the name
Dokadiya Parshvanath. A Shravak, who was the first person to do Pooja of Dokadiya Parshvanath
daily, used to find a "Dokada" (currency of that period) in the palms of Bhagwan daily. This incident
continued for many days. One day he told about this incident to another person. The next day, the
dokada was there but it got stuck in the palm of Bhagwan and even today we can see the coin in
the palms of Bhagwan.
