I first contacted Vets4Pets for a home visit to get my cats vaccinated.
After a few follows up and reschedules, the doctor finally showed up and vaccinated my cats at home. The charges were ₹700 per cat (for Feligen, Anti-rabies was free), ₹500 for home visit services, and ₹300 for consultation. As per what seems to the norm in Vizag, no formal bill was provided.

I also scheduled a spay procedure for my 2 female cats with the vet after specifically inquiring whether they have the equipment necessary to deliver inhalant anaesthesia. However, due to a minor rescheduling issue, I ended up in a clinic that was not equipped with this machinery, and I was not informed about this before I showed up at the clinic with my cats.

Nevertheless, the doctor proceeded to prep one of my cats for the procedure, shaving the pelvis area. When it came time to finally perform the procedure, he finally said there was an “edema” (which apparently is a swelling) which is a sign that the cat is too weak from being put on a fast, and so, we need to reschedule. It ended up being a total waste of everyone’s time and effort and unnecessary stress for my cats who’d been put on fasts on-and-off.

Also, the cat that was shaved developed strange rashes on the pelvic area.

Finally, because I got my cats their first dose of vaccination from this doc, I scheduled the booster dose with him as well. Again, multiple follow-ups before he managed to send someone. Inexperienced handling of stressed cats. And charged a ₹300 consultation fee even for a follow-up booster dose in addition to the regular charges, even the second time around.

Oh, and when I went to the clinic for the spay procedure, the doctor haphazardly wrote out on a loose sheet of paper a “consent form” that I had to sign before he would operate on my cat.

All in all, a thoroughly unprofessional approach to treating animals, which just reeks of inexperience.

The vets may be operating with good intentions and trying to provide specialised service, but the whole effort falls apart because of a somewhat lacklustre attitude.

Edit/Response:

1. I appreciate the free Rabies shots. However, they were given only the 1st time because they are required only once per year, as you very well know. The second home visit was just about booster doses of Feligen shots. I was not waiting to take advantage of anything before this review.

2. There were 3 cats the first time. Only 2 the 2nd time around.

3. 9-11 am is not usually odd hours. I was also open to evening visits, but I had to follow up with your technician several times before he finally showed up.

4. The only reschedule that happened was because I had put my cats on a fast for about 10 hours, which is what is recommended by most vets. I've been working with rescue cats since 2017 and had gotten several neutered/spayed. This is the 1st time I came across a vet who didn't perform a surgery because a cat had been on a fast for more than 6 hours. Still, you are the medical professional, and I had no choice but to adhere to your advice. I've gotten the same cat neutered the very same week at another clinic, and those vets insisted that a 10-hour fast is perfectly alright as a clean system is necessary before a female cat's spay surgery. The other reschedules happened because of a lack of response from your clinic.

5. I was not informed about your clinic not having the necessary equipment until I had already arrived there with my cats. Only after you decided not to operate did you inform me that this clinic did not have the equipment and that I was to go to another clinic and that it would cost more. All information was not given to me before I had arrived at your clinic. Yes, my cats were rescues and I was looking for an economical option if possible, but that doesn't mean I wanted to compromise on their health or safety.

Having said all this, I see that your initiative is customer-centric, which is why I reached out to you for the booster doses as well. Still, the response and the timely sharing of information could've been better.
