Lake Kalibari is a venerated place for many who hold belief in the Shakti faith. It is a small temple in the front, where anybody can offer prayers and there are many stalls outside to buy flowers, offerings and incense, if one wants to. The area of the temple is under CCTV surveillance and if one wants to offer prayers, rituals, and receive prasad in an exclusive manner, one can contact the temple office located adjacent. There is provision outside the temple to offer food and other donations to the needy. Inside the premises, there are 3 separate temples dedicated to goddesses and there are ongoing construction for expansion inside. Very important and pleasant to note that no animals are sacrificed in this temple.

Lake Kalibari is a famous Kali temple which is located in Southern Avenue, Kolkata. The official name of the temple is Sree Sree 108 Karunamoyee Kalimata Mandir which has been given after the name of presiding deity Karunamoyee. Basically, the temple is managed by the Sree Sri Karunamoyee Kalimata Trust and was established about 60 years ago by the Gurudev. Gurudev concocted ‘Tantra Kriya’ for offering his prayers to the Goddess about the welfare of mankind. It is one of the famed and popular religious pilgrims of Bengal state.
The temple’s construction was partially completed by 2013 but due to financial issues it has still not completed. The illuminated Lake Kalibari, which is situated at South Kolkata, is slowly moving on its way to present a new concept of colourful, ornamental and multi-storeyed unique Temple. This site is a very serene place of harmony for performing various Archanas and Pujas.
