Average place. The main road from Merapani to Nagaland was pretty good but the road connecting to the dam was awful. Not worth the time and money. The dam was close because of 'covid restrictions', even though there were people all over the place. Nagaland always feels unsafe but this time there was CRPF soldiers with semi automatic guns on every corner of the road. We were also scammed by two Naga men saying we'll need to pay 100 each to them as a pass, they gave us a government approved paper saying if someone stops us we can show them this paper. I doubt it that the paper was genuine. The view was okay but we have better places here in Assam. Don't. Go. To. Doyang.

As per National Register of Large Dams, Nagaland has only one completed dam - Doyang dam which has been constructed on River Doyang, a tributary of River Brahmaputra and located near Wokha city of Nagaland.
The construction of Doyang Dam was completed in the year 2000. It is an earthern dam built for hydro-electric purpose (75 MW capacity) as well as for drinking water supply. North East States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mainpur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura are the beneficiary states of this project.
Doyang reservoir has gross storage capacity of 535 (Million Cubic Meter) MCM and effective storage capacity of 370 MCM. Doyang dam is approximately 462m long and 92m high. It has four spillway radial gates with designed spillway capacity of 5977 cumec.
The Doyang River, which is one of the key Rivers of Nagaland, originates from the Japfü Hill near the Southern slope of Mao in Manipur and moves in a south west direction passing through Kohima district and flows northward into Zunheboto and Wokha District. It passes through a great part of Wokha District and flows south westerly into Dhansiri in Sibsagar, District of Assam. The length of the river is 167 (From Gariphema/Ghathashi area to Liphi). It has got three main tributaries such as Tsui, Tullo and Tishi.Tullo is the combined water of Keleki and Tangki streams, Tishi joins it in the Sema area. Doyang river is the biggest and longest river which run near the Nagaland's southern boundary. The Angami people in whose area it rises calls it Dzu or Dzulu. In the valley along the Doyang river the modern system of cultivation like terrace is being carried out successfully, especially in two particular areas near Pangti village called “Pofu hayi” and “Tentsu hay”. Besides vegetables, and fruits such as banana, pineapple papaya etc.are abundantly and luxuriantly grown in those two areas.
Situated on the River Doyang, this Project with a capacity of 3 X 25 MW and an estimated annual generation of 227 Million Units was commissioned on the 2nd week of July 2000. The Project is located in Wokha District of Nagaland. It is being managed by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd.
