Mawphlang Sacred Forest is a very interesting place and one should definitely visit this place. If you are coming to Meghalaya State, these Sacred Forests in Meghalaya are in olden days small Kasi kingdoms. According to tribal faith, there are deities inside the forest. so they don't take anything from the forest. There is a guided tour into the forest who explains vividly about khasi culture, faith and traditions apart from medicinal plants. t was a wonderful experience

It is considered as a sacred forest. Many of the villages and communities in Meghalaya have such reserved places bit the secret Grove is the biggest and the most popular in the East Khasi region. The unique thing is that the forest has not extended beyond for years.

There are certain rules that need to be followed strictly. You cannot get into the forest without a local guide. There are two types of forest treks available half trek and full trek. Cost of half trek is 350 and full trek is 500.
You are not allowed to leave anything or carry anything from the forest to outside as it is considered to bring bad omen.

The forest trek is exciting and you can find unique plants there.

You can have maagi and tea or local food there. It's unique and not to be missed during Shillong visit.

Do not forget to carry your umbrella and wind cheater during visit as it is commonly said that there are four seasons every day here.

Interesting place. Seems Not much explored. A guided tour by local tribal guys. Very interesting and knowledgeable. People are very cooperative. Not aware about the truth or facts what guides tell but it seems interesting. A short tour but a different kind of experience. Loves the people and place.
