Maharana Pratap Singh Rathore was a legendary ruler of Mewar, a region in present-day Rajasthan, India. He was born on May 9, 1540, in Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan. He was the eldest son of Maharana Udai Singh II, the ruler of Mewar, and his wife Rani Jeevant Kanwar.

Maharana Pratap is best known for his bravery and valor in the face of adversity. He is considered a hero in Rajasthan and is widely respected and revered by the people of the state. He is also known for his legendary horse Chetak, who played a crucial role in the Battle of Haldighati.

Maharana Pratap's reign was marked by continuous conflict with the Mughal Empire, which was expanding its territory in India. He refused to submit to the Mughals and fought against them in several battles. The most famous of these battles was the Battle of Haldighati, which was fought in 1576 against the Mughal emperor Akbar's forces led by his general, Man Singh I.

Although Maharana Pratap's forces were greatly outnumbered, he fought with great courage and determination. He rode his horse Chetak into battle and sustained several injuries before eventually retreating to safety. Despite this defeat, Maharana Pratap continued to resist the Mughal Empire and never gave up his fight for independence.

Maharana Pratap died on January 19, 1597, at the age of 56. He is remembered as a great warrior and a symbol of resistance against foreign rule. His legacy lives on in the stories and folklore of Rajasthan, where he is still celebrated as a hero.
