Mahakaleshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva. It's a good place to go. The only drawback was that the local authorities have not developed the place well for pilgrimage tourists.

There is an e-auto service that drops you near the temple - no charge for the service. However the surrounding area can be much better developed.

There are different types of queues leading to the temple - some paid and free. I went to the free queue. It took half an hour to take darshan. Overall it's a good place.

I visited this month to see the difference between old corridor and the new one. It's really amazing to see the difference. Everything getting streamlined and we feel that we are visiting a world most ancient temple.

Excellent modern sculptures explaining Shiva Puran story.

Not much of a religious person..but since my childhood always intrigued by the name Ujjain..it’s age..it’s historical significance..do you know the temple dates back to 600 B.C .. that’s how long the temple has been preserved..so ya..for that milestone itself the temple has to be revered ..and also one of the very very few temples where the locality around and inside the temple are extremely neat and well maintained..it took me to a happy place..which is more important.. A must visit place.
